The Story of Big Red

A big, beautiful chestnut mare with a lot of heart and power! About 5 years old, Red was one of the feral, ranch dispersal horses that Sound Equine Options acquired in June 2021 from Idaho. After being gentled and under saddle for a just few months, Mark had the privilege of adopting this smart girl in the spring of 2022.

She is double PSSM positive, which can cause episodes of muscle stiffness and pain after exercise, also known as “tying up.” This means Mark takes special care and attention to giving her a low-sugar diet, proper exercise and rest. This doesn’t stop her from being a quick learner and eager partner though!

Mark & Red’s bond grows stronger every day as their story unfolds at Horsin’ Around Ranch in Damascus, OR.
